I had no idea she was this much of a bitch, though. Thanks for compiling all of this, Roo. I'm kind of tempted to romp through her website's archives to look for the worst of her fanfics, but I'm not looking forward to this reading experience. I mean, I never liked Ash (still don't), but I wouldn't describe him as someone who would be purposefully vindictive in the way Cori had. Didn't she have Ash attacking a pregnant Jessie at some point? QUOTE(Roo @ Nov 28 2008, 08:28 PM) QUOTE Honestly! Why the hell are people so mean to the characters that I like?! Why does everybody hate them so much?! Nobody who actually liked them could be capable of writing the shit that I've seen and heard horror-stories about! X_______x) The people who write these rape/death/torture/abuse/creepy pairing fics must be pulling their characterization and plot ideas out of their asses...because they sure are shitty! >D Oi. That really pisses me off. For some reason I'm distantly reminded of a classmate I had in eighth (seventh?) grade. We had just finished reading Edgar Allen Poe's "Cask of Amontillado," and some girl in the class decided to announce that "someone would have to be really sick to come up with this," as though people who write horror and macabre stories are on the same level of depravity as the criminally insane, or that all types of horror and macabre stories are equally tasteless and lurid, or that horror writers are inevitably going to start murdering people. And since I'm a big fan of Poe and macabre work in general, I kind of sunk in my chair and looked really awkward. </rant> Okay, enough mememe ranting. I need to find some good sporkings of Cori's fanfics. I need to find some good sporkings of Cori's fanfics. Well, Poe DID have a buttload of obvious issues that seeped into his writing. XD But even if I can't name any I know there are horror/macabre writers who are mentally sound and well-adjusted. And some writers of happy endings and sweetness with obvious issues. And yeah, she had Ash sic his Pikachu on Jessie for no reason while she was pregnant, and in one of her fics James wangsted over the image of Pikachu zapping Jessie in her 3rd trimester. As if she'd actually be working at that point, you'd think she'd take advantage of her "handicap" to lie around and make James and Meowth do everything. QUOTE(Roo @ Dec 1 2008, 07:37 AM) Yep, Cori more or less directly stated in her author's notes/rants that it was the Scyther episode and the "mohawk haircuts" that made her hate Tracey. That, and he apparently at some point committed the unforgiveable sin of calling Team Rocket "weird." I dunno, I don't think I ever saw that episode, but apparently it was deeply traumatizing. Thing is, Cori does have this habit of taking minor things that probably don't mean anything, and exaggerate them until she's convinced they are a major part of the character, probably by making some pretty far-fetched logical leaps. She sees that Tracey is not stick-thin (or at least that he wears an oversized tee-shirt that makes him look not-stick-thin), so obviously he's fat, and that probably means he's a glutton, and all gluttons are slobs, and slobs don't shower as often as they should, so logically Tracey is a fat slob who never showers. That makes sense, right? Furthermore, it's established at least twice that Tracey was drawing a pretty girl when he claimed he was drawing a Pokemon, so that must mean that he secretly perves on girls, and if he does that then he obviously draws dirty nude pictures of them for himself to ogle, and he pretty much just looks at girls as sex objects and not people at all, so from that, you have to draw the conclusion that he's a good-for-nothing, vile, sexist pig. Since it's now established that he's good-for-nothing, then he obviously can't be a good Pokemon researcher, or in any way be an asset to Professor Oak in his lab, because that would mean he was good for something, which directly contradicts what we had just deduced. So the conclusion has to be that Tracey is a complete waste of space, who never does the work he's supposed to, goofs off and watches porn instead of tidying up the lab or taking care of the Pokemon, and the only reason why Professor Oak hasn't thrown him out yet is because he's just too nice. So there. I have no idea if that's actually how the thought process went, but it wouldn't seem too far-fetched, would it? Tracey is friggin BUFF, Cori obviously missed the episode with Joy and the Magikarp where he and Ash were in their swim trunks. XD And her partner in crime, in her 3-part Gary wangst epic, had him talking like a surfer stereotype. Cori has a habit of making Mt. Everest out of anthills. In one of her future timeline fics, Jessie and James's son Eric stole some candy at the market as kids often do, and it made Jessie wangst over the memories of how she and James used to be Pokemon thieves and the influence it had on the kids and all that jazz. -------------------- In Soviet Russia, badfic sporks YOU. XD I don't really know a lot about him, but he doesn't torture puppies in his spare time. But you are right; Poe did have a lot of issues. It's just that I don't like the generalization that all people who write horror-based, violent things have to be mentally ill or that they would recreate such stories in reality. QUOTE As if she'd actually be working at that point, you'd think she'd take advantage of her "handicap" to lie around and make James and Meowth do everything. That's actually a lot more in-character than anything Cori would ever write. Hell, it's perfect. I'd love to see something like that. XD QUOTE Cori has a habit of making Mt. Everest out of anthills. Oi. That actually could have had some potential if it wasn't 1) exacerbating something so trivial and/or 2) involving so much badly-written, OOC wangst. On second thought, that kind of undermines the whole premise. saeku Dec 9 2008, 08:26 PM Post #44 GAFF Reader Group: Members Posts: 193 Joined: 12-July 07 From: Toronto, Ontario Member No.: 1 390 QUOTE(The Flying Pandora @ Dec 2 2008, 10:22 AM) QUOTE(Sara Jaye @ Dec 2 2008, 02:56 PM) Well, Poe DID have a buttload of obvious issues that seeped into his writing. XD I don't really know a lot about him, but he doesn't torture puppies in his spare time. He used to be addicted to alcohol and prescription drugs, so he doesn't get a gold star for well-adjusted-ness. However, I concede that he does not torture puppies in his spare time. -------------------- This poster is not John Constantine. « Next Oldest · Golden Oldies · Next Newest » 3 Pages < 1 2 3 Forum HomeSearchHelpGodawful Fan Fiction |-- New Releases |---- Harry Potter |-- Golden Oldies |-- Godawful Fan Art |-- Why, God, Why? |-- In Progress |-- AntidotesGodawful Culture |-- Godawful Prose and Poetry |---- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows |-- Godawful Movies |-- Godawful Television |-- Godawful Music |-- Godawful Games |-- Godawful Websites |-- Godawful News |-- Godawful Miscellaneous |-- Antidote MiscellaneousGodawful Gabbery |-- Admin Matters |-- GabberySo Long... |-- ...
