IF A PICTURE PAINTS A THOUSAND WORDS, SPECIAL EDITION A Sailor Moon Sekkushiaru Roman, Based on a Story in Lunatic Party Volume 5 NOTE: This story is based on the last piece in "Lunatic Party Volume 5." I could not find any way to adapt the piece to the "mainstream" universe of my fics, but the material was far too beautiful and romantic not to use. Thus, in the tradition of Lady M. Harris, Mishii Kawaii, and Lunar Rose, I have made this a "total alternate universe" story - taking Sailor Moon characters and putting them in a setting where they are not Senshi. . .but the love between them remains the same. In order to establish a distinct separation between this and my "mainstream" fics, I am using the Japanese names for the characters, instead of my usual practice of using the NA names. by Sailor Mac Once upon a time, there was an angel named Usagi. She lived in Paradise with other angels, helping human beings in need as such creatures do. Between such missions, she lived a tranquil existence, enjoying lovely gardens and waterfalls, pleasant music, and the company of her sister angels. But it was a life lived without romance. Angels didn't fall in love, and nobody questioned it. Sometimes, when she visited Earth, Usagi would see men and women kissing and cuddling, and she thought nothing of it, just like one of us would feel visiting a foreign country and observing its customs - it was interesting, but it had nothing to do with her. And then, one day, she caught sight of a young man named Chiba Mamoru. It was entirely coincidence. She was sitting at a table in a coffee shop in Tokyo, waiting for a young woman she was supposed to be helping to come in. . .when she spotted him in the next booth, drinking coffee and reading a newspaper. He was handsome, much more handsome than most of the humans he had seen, but that wasn't what was so fascinating about him. There was something about the way he held himself, a regal bearing that exuded quiet strength. . . Usagi felt herself intrigued, much more intrigued than she'd ever been with a human being before. She watched as a friend of his approached the booth and talked to him. . .what a nice voice he had, deep and warm, fitting with his face and mannerisms. . . Using her telepathic ability, she pushed her mind gently toward his, determined to find out everything she could about him. His name was Mamoru. . .he lived in Juuban District. . .he was an orphan, completely on his own. . . Her heart broke at that bit of information. Poor Mamoru, she thought, all alone in the world. . . Don't worry, she thought, gazing at him. . .you're not alone now, Mamoru. You'll never be alone again. From that moment on, she'd appointed herself his personal guardian angel. She looked down on him from above constantly, observing his life, his habits. . .And whenever he got into any kind of trouble, she helped. When he felt sick, she sent him healing energy. When he was riding his motorcycle and hit a skid, she made the bike right itself. And when he felt lonely, she used her telepathy to let her mind gently touch his, pouring out her love and reassurance. She could feel his mood lift. At night, she would frequently connect with him while he was asleep, sending him dreams in which they would see each other, touch each other. . . After awhile of this, Usagi began to think about the love she'd seen between humans. . .the cuddling, the kissing, the sharing. . . What would it be like, she thought, to do that with Mamoru? One day, she and her sister angel, Makoto, were looking down at humans in Tokyo, just people-watching as they often did for entertainment. "Isn't that the one you watch out for?" said Makoto, pointing Mamoru out to Usagi. She smiled. "Yes, that's Chiba Mamoru. I've been looking out for him for two human years now. He's a very special person." "Special?" "He's a very sweet guy. . .with a lot of inner strength. . .and he's got nobody. So he needs me to take care of him. . .why do you have that look on your face, Makoto?" "Usagi. . .it's not normal for an angel to feel that way about her charge." "Don't you think the people *you* watch out for are special?" She waved her hand dismissively. "Humans are humans. I look out for them because it's my job. They're all special in their way. . .but I don't favor one human over others. It's dangerous for an angel to fall in love with a human. . ." "Dangerous?" "You don't remember what happened to Naru?" "I haven't seen her around in a long time. . ." "Naru fell in love with a human, his name was Nephlite or something like that. She left Paradise to be with him. . .and the moment an angel makes love to a human, it saps all her angelic energy. Naru was stuck as a human. She's living on earth now. . .and she has to *work* for a living. And she gets sick, and hurt, and all the other nine thousand awful things that happen to humans." Usagi thought about that. She'd witnessed human misery, all right, and it was a terrible thing. . .but she'd also witnessed human joy, a stronger, sweeter emotion than the constant state of mellowness the angels lived in. Perhaps, she thought, having to live through bad times makes them appreciate the good times more. . . "Is she happy?" said Usagi. "Happy? How could any human be truly happy?" Usagi thought more. . .some humans had looked plenty happy to her. . . "Hi, Usagi!" called a voice from across the meadow. "Ami! Where are you going?" "Off to file some new reports on humans. . .I have one on the young man you look out for. . ." Usagi flew over to her friend. "Can I see?" Ami handed her a folder, which Usagi opened to see an image of Mamoru. Every time she saw him, she felt something in her turn over, an emotion she knew was not angelic in nature. . . She scanned the report. Among the information she already knew about him, it said, "No woman in his life, and none in sight in the immediate future. . ." What would it be like, she thought, if *I* could be the woman in his life. . .just for a little while. . . "Usagi," said Makoto, "I just read that thought. You don't know what you'd be letting yourself in for if you did that." "How can you say that?" Usagi snapped. "You said yourself that you don't have warm feelings for any particular human. . .how can you understand what I'm feeling right now? What's the harm if I just go to him for a few weeks, or even days?" "Makoto is right," Ami said. "You know that intimacy between a human and an angel saps all the angel's energy. You'd have to become a human yourself." "And it would mean pain, Usagi. . .pain and suffering. And what if this Mamoru decides he doesn't love you, or if something happens to him? You'd have to bear all the miseries of being a human all alone." The other two noticed the crestfallen look on Usagi's face, and they could pick up her thoughts. . .she longed, longed with all her heart to experience love with Mamoru, just once. . . "Look," Makoto said. "Ami and I will lend you some of our energy. You can spend one night with Mamoru. One night, that's it. . .that's as long as the energy will last. And then you'll return to us." Usagi's face lit up. "You mean it?" "Yes." And her two sister angels caught Usagi's hands, and she felt a current of power pass through her, so much that she felt dizzy for a second. . . "Thank you!" she said. "See you later!" And she took off happily, wings fluttering as she set a course for Tokyo. Night was falling as she hovered over the city. "Let's see," she said, "I think Mamoru's place was around here somewhere. . ." She caught sight of a high-rise apartment building. "Ah, this is it!" And she settled on the balcony and peeked inside, folding her wings and pulling them into her back. She now looked like a human. . .albeit one wearing a long white nightgown. There he was, sitting in his easy chair, glasses perched on his nose as he studied the book in front of him. Usagi felt her breath catch. How magnificent he is, she thought. . . And suddenly, panic gripped her. How do I introduce myself to him? she thought. What do I say? I can't just announce I'm his guardian angel, can I? What if he just tellsme to go away? What if. . . "Who's there?" The sound of his voice startled her so much that she almost jumped off the balcony. "Ohh. . ." she said, "I'm. . .a visitor! I've had my eye on you a long time, and I knew this was where you lived, so I thought I'd just come along and say hi, and. . ." He opened the window and gasped. "You!" "Umm. . .me?" "It's you. . .oh, God, it's you. . .come in. . ." Puzzled, she climbed into the window. He was gazing at her in such a strange way, looking her up and down. . . "Aren't you cold in that outfit?" he said. "I'll get you one of my sweaters. . ." He left and retreated into a back room, coming back with a garment which he handed her. She slipped it over her head, then used her powers to make the nightgown beneath disappear. "Thanks. . ." "I can't believe you're really in my apartment," he said. "I've seen you in my dreams every night. . ." "I've been watching you a lot, too," she said. "For the past two years. . ." "Two years? Who are you? Where do you come from?" Oh, God, she thought, what do I say, what do I say. . . "You might say I'm your. . .guardian. I keep an eye on you. . ." "Some kind of super-psychic?" "You could say that. . ." "Why did you pick me to keep an eye on?" "Because. . .you're so. . .special. You're unlike any human. . .person I've ever seen before." He chuckled. "Well, I don't know about the 'special' part. . .I'm just a guy, really. But you. . .you're incredible! So cute. . .even your Meatball Head hairstyle!" She bristled. "Meatball Head? I will *not* be called Meatball Head!" (Oh, no, she thought, I must have done something wrong if he called me something like that. . .) He laughed and winked at her. "I'm just kidding around. What would you *like* me to call you?" "My name is Usagi." "Usagi. . .it suits you." He stretched. "I think I'm going to lie down. . .want to come with me?" Why did those words make her feel like her insides were doing somersaults? She could feel her cheeks flushing, her breath coming faster. . . He disappeared into his bedroom, and she could hear the sounds of closets and drawers opening and closing, sheets rustling. She stood rooted to the spot. . .what do I do now, she thought. . . Cautiously, she approached the bedroom door and opened it. He was between the covers, wearing a tank top and shorts. "Hi," he said, pulling back the covers on the other side of the bed. "Come lie down. . .it's okay, I won't make you do anything you don't want to." She slipped slowly into the bed and pulled the blankets up. He caught her in his arms and pulled her tight. "Usagi," he whispered, "I've waited all my life for you. Ever since I was a little boy, I knew that someone like you would come into my life. And then, the past couple of years. . .I've seen you in my dreams. I've felt your presence all around me. . .I've heard your voice in my head. I've loved you with all my heart all this time, and I knew it was my destiny to meet you in the flesh. . ." "I love you too, Mamoru. . .ever since I first saw you." He kissed her forehead, and she felt his hand start to slide under her sweater, up her stomach. . .She was seized with panic, panic and something else. . .some sharp, strong feeling she couldn't quite identify. . .She jumped. "It's okay, love," he whispered. "You're not ready yet. . .we'll talk in the morning. Good night." And he drifted off to sleep, snuggled next to her. Usagi lay in the dark, trying to get her breath. What just happened? And what was that feeling inside her. . .she had wanted something to happen, wanted it very much, but what? "Pssst! Usagi!" She heard Makoto's voice, and her head snapped up. There was her friend, standing in the bedroom. "What are you doing here?" "Don't you know what he wanted? And what you want too?" "What?" "Usagi. . .what in the world did you come here for in the first place? He wants to make love to you!" "Make. . .love?" "You know! Human intimacy! It's the thing that saps an angel's energy! Let me show you. . ." And Usagi's head was suddenly filled with images of couples. All were naked. . .they were kissing, caressing, pleasuring each other with hands, tongues, their entire bodies. . .there was men with women, women with women, men with men, and all looked blissful. . . This is what animates human life, she thought. This intimacy, sharing, caring, love. . .This is what makes all the suffering they have to go through worthwhile. . . Suddenly, her tranquil life as an angel seemed empty in comparison. The images stopped. "Now, do you understand?" Makoto said. "Yes. . .yes, I do." "Remember, make the most of it. . .because one night is all you have!" And then, she was gone. Mamoru was stirring, his eyes opening. . . "Usagi? Were you talking to someone?" "Talking to someone? No. . .no, just talking in my sleep. . ." "Well, then. . ." He reached for her. "Come cuddle. . .or, if you want to do more than cuddle. . ." Oh, Mamoru, she thought, I love you. . .I love you so much. . . She threw her arms around him and crushed her mouth against his. Ohh, it felt so, so good. . .much better than she'd even imagined! She felt her lips opening, her tongue stroking his first tentatively, then eagerly. . . And a strange kind of fire flooded her entire body, a feeling entirely new to her. She pulled away and gasped, her arms hugging herself as if she were trying to hold her body together, afraid she was going to explode. "Usagi?" "The emotions. . .it's too much. . .too much to bear!" She leapt from the bed, still hugging herself. "What's wrong?" He came up from behind her and hugged her, but that only made the fires within her leap higher, burn hotter. She sat down on the edge of the bed, tears rolling from her eyes. "Please talk to me, Usagi. . ." "I've never, never felt like this before." She looked up at him. "Oh, Mamoru, I haven't been honest with you. I'm not a human. . .not a super-psychic. . .I'm an angel. Your guardian angel." "An. . .*angel*?" "And. . .I only have one night to spend with you. . .one night, that's it, and then I have to go away. . ." "No!" he cried. "I've waited for this for so long! I thought that this was it, that you and I would be together forever, and I'd never be alone again. . ." "I'm sorry," she said, sobbing. "I never should have come here. . .it's only going to break both our hearts when I have to leave. . ." "Oh, Usagi. . ." She dried her tears and tried to smile. "But at least I got to touch you. And nobody can take that memory away from me. I can carry it through eternity. . ." He drew her head to his chest, and now it was he who was starting to cry. "I'll never be able to love anyone else. Never. You're the only one, Usagi. . .and if I can't keep you with me forever, I won't be with anyone." They clung to each other, and she stroked his hair. I'll never be able to love anyone else either, she thought. I can never go back to seeing human beings as just people to help, then move on. . .not now that I know what true, human love is like. Finally, she said, "Mamoru. . .let's not talk about when we *won't* be together. Let's make the most of the time we have together." His lips caressed her cheeks, forehead, hair. "Usako," he whispered, then paused. . . "Can I call you that? Usako?" She smiled. "Only if I can call you Mamo-chan." His lips claimed hers again, and this time, when the oceans of fire consumed her, she welcomed it and gave in to the feeling. And it was so, so, so sweet. . .His mouth was moving on hers, his teeth gently nibbling on her lower lip before his tongue slowly entered, teasing hers. . .A low moan escaped her. When he took his mouth away, she whispered, "Make love to me, Mamo-chan." He grasped her sweater and pulled it off. She felt him start to kiss his way down her neck, sending luscious shudders over her entire body. He continued across the curve of her breast. . . And then, his lips touched her nipple in a tender kiss. Tiny jolts of electricity ran over her entire body. "Ohh!" she cried. "Do that again!" He repeated his action, and when he lifted his head, his tongue flicked out and licked the hardened bud. "Aahhh!" she cried. "You like that?" he said, moving to her other breast to kiss the tip, making her cry out again. "Does that feel good?" "Yeeesss. . ." He pulled away from her for a second, just long enough to strip off his clothing, then lay on his side on the bed. He guided her to lie so her back was against his front, then kissed her neck as his hands came around her body. He grasped both breasts in his hands and tenderly squeezed, making her moan. "Mamo-chan," she sighed, then gasped as he took her nipples between his thumb and forefinger and pressed, oh-so-gently, and her whole body felt like it was on fire. "Ohhh. . .that's so good. . .ohhhh, ohhh. . ." "It'll only get better, my sweet." She felt him ease away from her, then roll her flat on her back. He pushed her legs up and out and moved down on the bed. And then, there was something wet and lovely touching her, touching her most private part. . . "OHHH! OHHH!" Oh, God, he was thrusting his *tongue* into her! And it felt *incredible*! He slipped it out of her entrance, swirled it around her nether lips, kissed them, nibbled ever-so-gently at the soft, soft flesh. . . "Mamo-chan! Don't stop. . .ohhh, don't stop. . ." When he thrust his tongue back into her, deep and hard, she let out a little shriek, and a small shudder passed over her. . .she was building, building, building up to something big. . . Mamoru wriggled his tongue around inside her, savoring her sweet taste, pulling it out, then pushing it in again. . .he could stay down there forever. . . Then, he pulled it out of her entrance and flicked up to her jewel. He gently, gently caressed the little nub with it, feeling his lover, literally the woman of his dreams, stiffen and tense. . .she's ready, oh, she's ready, she just needs that one little bit. . . When he started to suck on her pearl, she gasped. . .and then the dam broke. Letting out a wail, she felt her entire body quake, wracked by wave after wave of liquid fire. "MAMO-CHAN!!! OHHHH, MAMO-CHAN!!!" She flopped back on the bed, gasping. . . Tenderly, he kissed her, held her as the last of the shudders wracked her body, whispering his love to her. . . When she was still, he said, "Usako. . .do you want to keep going?" "Keep going?" She couldn't imagine there being anything beyond that. "Do you want me inside you?" "Yes. . .oh, yes. . ." He pulled away for a second, and she heard him open his nighttable drawer. "I bought these months ago, hoping I'd finally meet you in person," he said. She heard a package being torn, and he put something on his manhood, then came back to her. Mamoru kissed her deeply, and she felt his fingers probe between her legs. "I'm opening you up, getting you ready, sweetheart," he said. "This may hurt at first. . ." Hurt? She'd never experienced pain before. She tensed, not knowing what to expect. . . She felt his manhood begin to probe her, and gasped. . .what a strange feeling, strange and not altogether unpleasant. . . Then, she felt like she was being torn in two. The feeling hit her like a freight train, and she screamed. "Usako! Oh, baby, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. . .we won't do it. I didn't think it would hurt you that bad. . ." She bit her lip, trying to choke back the tears. Pain was *awful,* she decided. Just *awful*. . . Then, she realized she was probably over the worst of it. I've made it through the pain, she thought. . .now, I get to experience the pleasure. "It's okay, Mamo-chan," she whispered. "Keep going. . .I want to." "Usako. . .are you sure?" "Yes, love. I'm sure." "If you want to stop. . .just tell me." And then, he began to thrust. And the pain was gone, and something else was replacing it. . .heat, heat like she felt before, sharp and sweet. . .She moaned. "Mamo-chan. . .this is so nice. . ." What a sensation. . .the warmth of his body on hers . . .their lips caressing each other. . .the pressure of his chest on her hard nipples. . .their hearts beating against each other. . .and the spreading warmth from where he was thrusting, thrusting, thrusting. . . She was being consumed by pleasure. She couldn't think of anything but what he was doing to her, and she wanted more, more, more, more. . .Her hips were moving in time with his, her arms were clutching him tightly, she panted, she moaned. . . And then, in a frenzy of passion, she was flipping them both over so he was on his back and she was straddling him. She thrust hard and fast, moving forward so he would stimulate her jewel, feeling the heat build and build and build and. . . "MAMO-CHAN! Ohh, it's going to happen again. . ." "Yes, Usako! Come with me! Ohh, baby. . .yes. . .come on, honey, we can do it. . ." "AAAAAHHHHH!!!" she screamed as the spasms wracked her again, electricity shooting over every inch of her body, and she heard his cry answer hers as he released himself. . . She leaned over to kiss him. . .but she couldn't! She was rising up, up into the air. . .oh, no, she thought, they're taking me back! "Usako!" he cried. "What's happening?" She tried to smile. "I have to leave you, Mamo-chan. I love you.. .I'll always love you. . .I'll cherish the memory of this night forever. . ." "No! You can't go! They promised you a full night, the night isn't over yet!" "I'm sorry, darling. . .I have no control over it. . .goodbye. . ." She faded from his sight, and there was nothing but a few white feathers which drifted down onto his bed. "Usako!" he shouted. "USAKO!" And then, he burst into tears, feeling more alone than he ever had in his life. * * * She found herself floating in the air, in a fetal position, back in Paradise. Makoto was looking up at her. . .Usagi realized she was still naked, and she tried to cover herself with her hands. "Did you make the most of it?" I made the most of it, all right, she thought. And I know now that I don't belong here anymore. I belong on earth, at his side. . . "Why did you bring me back?" "I told you, Usagi. . .you only had enough spare energy for one night." "But one night isn't enough! Not for him and me. . ." "Usagi, I know how you feel about him. But one night is all we could give you without you turning into a human." "You say that as if it were a bad thing!" She burst into tears. "Usagi. . .I care about you. We all do. We don't want anything bad to happen to you. . .and that's what would happen if you lived in the human world. You're so sweet and innocent. . .and that world is so cruel and cold. They'd crush you." "It's not cruel and cold. Not if I'm with Mamo-chan." Mamo-chan? thought Makoto. Oh, dear. . . "Usagi, we talked about this before. Human relationships. . .they're complex. And they have a high failure rate. He very well might leave you." "No, he won't. He told me he'd waited all his life for me, that it would be impossible for him to love anyone else." "You'll suffer. You'll experience pain, sickness and aging. And death, Usagi. You'll have to experience *death.*" "I'll be able to bear anything if he and I are together." "And if he dies before you do, and leaves you alone?" "Then I know he'll be up here in Paradise, watching over me like I watched over him, until we can be together again." "Usagi, please. . .don't do this. . ." She smiled sweetly. "Makoto. . .thank you for caring. But there's no way I could go back to living this life. I belong with him. I know that now. It's my destiny. . .his destiny. And besides. . .it'll only be for 60 or 70 human years, and then I'll be back in Paradise. . .with him." Ami joined Makoto. "Usagi. . .are you sure? Really, truly sure?" "I've never been so sure of anything." The other two looked at each other. They knew they'd never talk her out of it. And deep in their hearts, they were envious of her courage and the love she'd found with this human. "Then. . .go," Makoto said. "We'll be waiting for you when you join us again." They embraced, then Usagi began to fade from sight. . . * * * Mamoru sobbed in his bedroom, touching the feathers which had fallen when Usagi vanished. Just once, he thought, I held her. . .my darling. . .I will never feel fulfilled again, never, now that I know what it's like to be one with her. . . Oh, Usako, how could fate be so cruel to us? He thought he heard her voice, saying softly, "Mamo-chan?" My mind is playing tricks on me, he thought. Then, he heard it again, louder, stronger: "Mamo-chan!" "Usako!" There she was, standing there in his bedroom. He rushed to her, pulled her into his arms. . .oh, Gods, it was her, she was here, she was real, she was his! "Mamo-chan!" She burst into tears, feeling flooded with happiness. "Oh, darling. . .we're together now, we'll be together forever. . ." "Why did they let you come back to me?" "I. . .I left them. I'm not an angel anymore, Mamo-chan. I became a human." "What? You turned your back on heaven. . .on eternal life. . .for me?" She caressed his face. "I didn't turn my back on eternal life. When this mortal life is over, we'll be together as angels in Paradise. But my true heaven is here on earth, with you, in your arms." "Oh, Usako. . ." They kissed and kissed, each savoring the feel and taste of each other's lips like it was the sweetest wine. . . "Mamo-chan. . .I have so much to learn about living as a human. Will you help me?" "Of course, my love. I'll guide you, look out for you, protect you. . ." "And I'll protect you. I love you so much. . ." "I love you, too." He kissed her, caressed her face, and whispered, "Now, where did we leave off when we were so rudely interrupted?" They sank to the bed, in each other's arms, ready to begin eternity together.
