True Love Part 12 G - English - Romance - Reviews: 7 - Published: 03-06-01 - Updated: 03-06-01 id:223145 True Love Part Nine It was twilight in the kingdom. Stars twinkled faintly above in the pinkish -purple sky and cherry petals fluttered past in the breeze. Soft music could be heard playing nearby. The atmosphere was magical, perfect for romance. Alone on the balcony, surrounded by roses, two lovers embraced. "You are the most beautiful girl in all the universe," said Malachite, looking into the deep green eyes of the princess. Zoisite looked up through her thick dark lashes at Malachite. The gentle wind stirred his star - kissed hair, making it float around his shoulders. His eyes gleamed like ice crystals, cool and silvery blue. As he leaned down to kiss her, she felt the smoothness of his bronzed skin. Gently, his lips touched her own. Zoisite was in heaven. She wished the moment might last forever... Fur tickled Zoisite's nose. She opened her eyes and saw that her little kitty was affectionately licking her face. She sighed. So it had just been a dream. But it had been a wonderful dream. And it had seemed so real! Zoisite flushed. Did she really feel that way about Malachite? What else could have provoked her dream? Zoisite wondered if Malachite had any feelings for her. It was difficult for her to tell. It seemed that just when he was about to get more intimate with her in some way, something held the lord warrior back. Kitty climbed over Zoisite's shoulder and batted at her copper curls. "And just what are you doing?" asked Zoisite sternly, turning her head to look at the playful kitty, but she couldn't help smiling. Kitty was so cute! Zoisite moved the little orange and white kitten onto her chest and kissed her velvety pink nose. "I have to get dressed," she said, sitting up in bed. "I have more lessons today." Zoisite wondered if Malachite was feeling better. He was not too eager to answer any personal questions. It was too bad, for there was much that Zoisite would like to ask him. "But he is so cute, Kitty!" giggled Zoisite. "I wish I knew more about him!" Kitty mewed in response. Zoisite smiled. Having this new pet was sort of like having a best friend to talk to. She could tell Kitty all of her secrets, that she wouldn't dare tell anyone else in this dark place of mystery and plotting. This Negaverse was cold, and her past was cloudy and mysterious, as her dreams often were, but her kitty was warm and real, and a loving little friend. "You won't tell Malachite how cute I think he is, Kitty," said Zoisite. "It will be our secret!" Zoisite laughed heartily. A knock was heard at Zoisite's chamber door. "Yes?" said Zoisite, straightening up and trying to appear dignified, like Malachite. Yasha opened the door partway and announced, "Breakfast in fifteen minutes, my lady." "I shall be ready," said Zoisite solemnly. As soon as Yasha's footsteps were heard retreating down the hall, Zoisite burst into giggles again. ****************************************************** "Teleporting," said Malachite, staring out the castle window thoughtfully, "Is a matter of forming a gateway between one place and another. The place you are currently in, and the place where you wish to end up. It doesn't matter whether you are grounded or floating in the air, although it is easier when you are not performing any other magic, such as levitating. You were able to teleport with the Zoisite wand, I assume?" He turned to his young female pupil. "Yes, sir," said Zoisite, with a faint smile. What would Malachite say if he knew what she had dreamed this morning? "Good. You may keep that wand as your personal magical aid, Zoisite. And you will learn to do more magic on your own as well." Malachite stepped closer to Zoisite. She was looking bright and refreshed today. Her eyes seemed to shine with some knowledge, unknown to the strongest warrior. "We shall see how long it takes you to learn this," he said slyly, keeping his calm and cool composure. Malachite took hold of her shoulders. He inhaled the sweet scent of her soft, coppery hair. It smelled like wild cherry petals. Zoisite's beauty was definitely a distraction. Malachite considered her to be the prettiest girl that he had seen in this Negaverse. And Malachite was finding it a bit hard to concentrate around her. Fantasies were already forming in his mind. He shook them off, and forced himself to focus on a portal. A dark black oval shaped void appeared in front of them. Malachite enhanced the portal so that Zoisite could easily see through to the other side - which ended up outside the castle. Zoisite's body trembled slightly with Malachite's magical aura around her. How strong it was! It was a good thing he couldn't see her face at the moment, because she was flushing. "Can you see that?" asked Malachite. "Can you feel the energy?" "Yes," Zoisite answered, almost in a whisper. "That's what the portal feels like, although yours will have your own unique energy pattern inside it. Now, we just will ourselves through." Malachite held her more firmly and guided her through the dark space. They were outside the castle now, in a clearing surrounded by the dark trees of the forest. Black Negaverse birds eyed them warily from their lofty perches. "Wow," thought Zoisite. She felt an exhilaration she had never felt before. Was it from the teleport? Or was it from being close to Malachite? Maybe it was both... "Let's try it again," said Malachite. "We will return to the castle." Malachite opened another dark portal. "Try to feel the rhythm of this," he said to Zoisite. Zoisite did recognize the basic pattern of teleporting. "I must have done this before," she thought. "It certainly feels familiar." "This time, I want you to try creating the gateway, Zoisite. I will do most of the work, but you will help me a bit." Zoisite nodded and shut her eyes. She concentrated, smiling at the warmth she felt from her energy and Malachite's. What a nice feeling! In a few seconds, they were out in the forest again. "Now, try to go to that spot over there." Malachite indicated a precipice a few hundred feet away. "I will help you..." "Oh, I think I've got it," said Zoisite and disappeared. Zoisite giggled. Malachite had looked so surprised! But a couple of seconds later, he was right there behind her. Zoisite gasped. "Malachite!" Malachite chuckled. "Anywhere you go, I can follow you, Zoisite. I can read your energy signature and I know where you have gone." "Oh?" She smiled mischievously. "We'll see how good you are. Follow this!" In a stroke of impishness, Zoisite vanished again. Malachite smiled. So she wanted to play games, did she? Well, he would show her how easily he could win. Zoisite had teleported herself a good distance away. As soon as she felt Malachite's energy appearing beside her, she willed herself away again. Zoisite kept doing this and each time, Malachite was a second or two behind the copper haired girl. "She's fast, that little vixen!" thought Malachite. Zoisite was having so much fun playing her little game that she didn't notice when she had teleported in the midst of a practicing troop of soldiers. A warrior in the middle of an attack hit Zoisite in her side. Fortunately, the weapon had been a blunt pole and not a sword, since the officer in charge wanted to practice without blades. Still, it was painful. Stunned, she fell to the ground. "You! What do you think you're doing?" shouted a rough male voice. "Ohhh..." moaned Zoisite. That had hurt! A pair of boots planted themselves firmly next to her. "Who are you?" "Huh?" Zoisite looked up and saw a tall, well - built, fair skinned young man standing over her. He was wearing a uniform similar to hers, except that it had gold trim and two shoulder caps, similar to Lord Malachite's. His hair was wavy and dark and he had sapphire - blue eyes. He was kind of handsome, if you ignored the annoyed look on his face. The man, whose name was Neflite, stared down at the girl sprawled out on the ground. She was very pretty. But what was she doing, running around by herself in a field of battle? "I - I'm a Negaverse warrior general. My name is Zoisite." Neflite could not believe that this awkward, weak - looking girl was a general. Even though she was wearing some sort of official uniform, she could not be. Warriors were not that clumsy. Or pretty. "Don't lie to me, girl. A warrior general would never do anything that stupid." "But I'm not lying- Malachite came up behind them. He had seen Zoisite get hit. "Is she all right?" he asked. "Malachite, who is this clumsy girl?" demanded Neflite. "She has disrupted my practice." "My apologies, Neflite. She is my student, Zoisite, general - in -training, and my responsibility. She has been a bit rebellious today," said Malachite as he helped the copper haired girl to her feet. "So she is the other general," thought Neflite. He had expected a bigger, tougher looking woman. "A girl?" said Neflite scornfully. "Just what was the Negaforce thinking?" Zoisite put her hands on her hips and tilted up her chin. She didn't think she liked this guy very much, handsome or not. "I'll be a general," she said. "You'll see." "Mmm-hmm,sure," Neflite said with a smirk and turned back to his troops. "Just keep this girl out of my ranks, Malachite." "She will not bother you again," replied Malachite, escorting the young female away. He was irritated that Zoisite had caused a scene. All the warriors had stopped practicing to stare. Malachite did not like to receive attention unless it was flattering to him. "Now, we are finished with this silly game of yours," he said to Zoisite, as they walked off. "From now on, you will stay by me at all times. Theree will be no going off on you own like this. As you see, you can get hurt." "Yes, Malachite," said Zoisite meekly. She had not wanted to cause any trouble for her mentor. She just wanted to show off that she knew what she was doing. "I'm sorry," she said sadly, keeping her eyes cast down. Malachite softened a little. Perhaps he was being too harsh. But Zoisite did need to learn patience. "I think we've had enough practice for today," said Malachite. "Let's go home." He took hold of Zoisite and together they returned to Malachite's dwelling.
